Fosun Tourism Achieved Excellence in Sales, Leading the Recovery of Domestic Tourism Market

According to the estimates by the Data Centre of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China, during the Qing Ming holidays in 2021, 102 million tourists travelled domestically, representing a year-on-year increase of 144.6% on a comparable basis, recovering to 94.5% of the same period before the pandemic. It also realized domestic tourism revenue of RMB27.168 billion, representing a year-on-year increase of 228.9%, recovering to 56.7% of the same period before the pandemic [1]. In the first short holidays following the second outbreak, the recovery rate of tourist number saw a significant increase as compared with that during the Golden Week holidays of Chinese New Year, showing an accelerated recovery of the domestic tourism market.

 

With tourism industry recovering, Fosun Tourism soundly developed its own tourism ecology to diversify high-quality tourism products, so as to fully meet the urgent post-pandemic needs of consumers for “city-periphery tours” and “quality tours”. The core business achieved excellent results during the Qing Ming holidays with satisfactory revenue performance.

 

 

Club Med Resorts in China and Atlantis Sanya Outperformed the Industry

 

During the three days of Qing Ming holidays in 2021, Club Med resorts in China were extremely popular with their revenue increased by more than 50% as compared with the same period in 2019 before the pandemic. In terms of occupancy rate by bed, the three-day average occupancy rate exceeded 80%. Among them, Club Med Sanya, Club Med Joyview Anji and Beijing Yanqing Resorts were fully booked on April 3 and 4.

 

The “2021 Qing Ming Travelling Summary Report”, which was released by the well-known domestic comprehensive tourism website Lvmama.com on April 5, 2021, shows that Sanya ranked among the top ten popular long-distance destinations. During the three-day Qing Ming holidays in 2021, Atlantis Sanya, owned by Fosun Tourism, achieved record-high results in the Qing Ming holidays since its opening. The resort received a total of nearly 54,000 tourists, representing a year-on-year increase of 111%. The revenue generated from resort operation increased by 352% as compared to that in 2020, and over 50% as compared with that in 2019 before the pandemic, far exceeding the industry average. Among them, room revenue increased by 67% compared with the same period in 2019; Waterpark ticket revenue increased by 79%; and retail and other revenue increased by 74%. Occupancy rate by bed increased by 7 percentage points from the same period in 2019 to 86%, and the average daily rate per room increased by 54%. Atlantis Sanya Waterpark continued to upgrade activities and launched the special activity of “Outing in Spring and Playing in the Water”, including Anti-gravity Water Slides and Wave Pool Paddle Board, which were well received by tourists.

 

 

Thomas Cook Lifestyle Platform Achieved Over 1 Million APP Downloads in Eight Months

 

In addition, since the launch of Thomas Cook Lifestyle Platform, Fosun Tourism’s one-stop resort life service scenario-based platform in 2020, it has been developing rapidly. Data shows that from June 18, 2020 to April 1, 2021, the transaction volume of the platform exceeded RMB140 million with over 1 million APP downloads and over 600,000 monthly active users. Among them, the number of Foryou Club members developed from the platform has reached 6.33 million, and core users continued to increase.

 

Thomas Cook Lifestyle Platform was officially launched in China in July 2020. By integrating online and offline superior resources, it completed the layout of vertical FC2M ecological chain from offline scenarios and resources to product content, and to online customers, aiming at providing in-depth services for users.
